Introduction
We built this 220mm carbon fiber lamp for one reason: to give industrial heating a direct, fast reaction. When your process needs heat that shows up instantly, stays steady, and doesn’t demand a lot of room, this lamp steps in and gets the job done. It’s a shortwave infrared halogen lamp, designed to pack serious heat into a small footprint—perfect for spaces where every millimeter counts and cycles happen in seconds.
What’s really going on under the hood
That 220mm length isn’t random. It sets the heating zone and keeps the overall size tight, so you get concentrated infrared power without having to redesign the machine cavity. And the halogen design? It lets the filament run hotter, pushing the output into shortwave infrared. That means fast-reacting energy that hits surfaces and heats them on contact, with no waiting around.
Why the carbon fiber matters
The carbon fiber isn’t there to look good. It’s the stiff backbone that fights sagging and vibration, so the filament shape holds steady—even when the lamp gets hit with repeated thermal shock. Keeping that geometry consistent is what makes the radiation pattern predictable, lamp after lamp. No surprises. Just repeatable performance.
Material choices that earn their keep
Carbon fiber also handles repeated on/off cycles better than a lot of ceramics, which matters when your lamp is switching constantly. And the halogen fill gas supports a hot-spot regeneration cycle, which fights blackening over time so the output stays steady. We went with an R7s connector because it’s a proven industrial fit. It locks in, carries high current safely, and makes the lamp a straightforward drop-in replacement for standard fixtures. The quartz envelope is there for high-temperature stability and strong IR transmission, and the coating is applied to tune the spectrum and keep surface temperature under control.
Where this shines—and what to watch for
In real life, this setup is ideal for jobs like PET blowing, where you need rapid, localized heating to soften the preform without turning the whole machine into a sauna. The lamp fires up fast, puts the heat exactly where you need it, and keeps the process window stable. Now, the trade-off is heat density. A shortwave halogen lamp in a 220mm package can deliver intense power in a small footprint, so your machine’s cooling and thermal management need to be ready for it. Plan on enough airflow and heat extraction to keep ambient temperatures in check and protect nearby components.
