Power, voltage, and size—what actually matters on the line
The numbers on the label aren’t just specs—they shape how the lamp behaves when the clock is ticking. Running at 400V helps deliver more power without pushing the current through the roof, so your wiring and contacts don’t feel like they’re in a constant sprint. Wattage sets how much heat you get. And the tube length—usually around 300mm—determines where the heat lands. Match the length to the spot you’re aiming at, or you’ll end up warming the air instead of the part that needs it.
Inside the lamp: the choices that make it tough and reliable
At the heart of it is a carbon filament, radiating intense infrared heat. Halogen fill gas helps keep the filament stable, slowing down evaporation so the lamp lasts longer. The quartz envelope handles the heat and lets the infrared energy pass through with minimal loss. And there’s a reflective coating on the back of the tube, pushing more of that energy forward—so you get more usable heat for every watt. For the connection, we use an R7s connector. It’s a practical pick: it handles high current, installs quickly, and holds a solid connection inside industrial fixtures.
Where it shines—and what to watch for
These lamps are a natural fit for spot heating, drying, curing, and pre-heating—anywhere response time matters. Because the heat is concentrated, you get serious heat density in a small footprint. That can shorten cycle times and keep things moving. Installation is straightforward. With a standard R7s socket, it’s often a drop-in replacement on many machines. But here’s the catch: high heat density means you need to plan for cooling and shielding. Set up proper airflow and guarding, or nearby components can get cooked.
